Hello All,

Welcome to a series of blog posts about our visit to Rwanda! I am honoured and privileged to be accompanying nineteen students and two Professors from Huron University College to Kigali and a number of rural sites in the country between May 6th and May 14th. We will be visiting sites dedicated to the memory of those who perished during the genocide in the 1990s, and will connecting with NGOs in the country that work on women's issues, sustainable development, primary and secondary education, and, of course, the continuous reconciliation efforts in the country.

Up until this point I have been vaccinated - abundantly, to be honest :) - and save for the vaccine against yellow fever, all went well. Better safe than sorry!

We wait with anticipation our departure on Friday. We'll be traveling through Amsterdam - on KLM - and so things should go smoothly. If they do not, at least we'll have access to abundant amounts of Heineken (0% ;) ) and ... kaas! It's Dutch for...?! :)

I will be updating this post on a regular - daily basis, in fact - and so please visit soon, and perhaps even often. :) The aim here is to share with you my thoughts, impressions and, of course, questions about reconciliation efforts in the country, development, the work of NGOs, and many other topics.

What are you curious about? Feel free suggest questions, topics, on my FB page.

Peace!

Laszlo
